In September Tsavliris arranged towage of the Rescue/Survey Vessel "OCEAN INVESTIGATOR" (GT 3,327 - DWT 2,690) from Ambelaki, Salamis Island, Greece, to Tuzla shipyard, Turkey, for maintenance/repairs. The operation was successfully completed on 12 September
The AGCS annual review of trends and developments in shipping losses shows a long-term positive safety trend with the number of reported total losses of over 100GT remaining stable. The annual shipping losses have halved over the past decade. South China, Indochina, Indonesia and Philippines is the global loss hotspot, accounting for a third of all losses worldwide.
On 19 August 2021, the craned Bulk Carrier "NAVIOS AMARYLLIS" (GT 32,415 - DWT 58,735), in ballast, grounded on Rasfari Reef in the North Male Atoll, Maldives. The vessel was on a voyage from Tuticorin, India to Saldanha Bay, South Africa. Tsavliris were contracted to provide salvage assistance in the environmentally sensitive area. On 29 August, the casualty was successfully refloated without any oil spill. The AHT "VIRGO which remains alongside the vessel pending departure under tow.
On 29 August 2021, the Bulk Carrier "MAYMONA" (GT 4,255 - DWT 6,341) grounded off Patraikos Gulf, Cape Pappas, Greece. The vessel was en route from San Nicolas, Greece to Vassiliko, Cyprus, laden with 6,505 tonnes of low grade bauxite. On 30 August, Tsavliris despatched from her salvage station in Patras, their S/T "HERMES" (BHP 2725 – BP 44) to assist the vessel.
Tsavliris Salvage has produced the new corporate Brochure which reviews the highlights of the Group's activities including the most important salvage operations performed. The Brochure is published every four years for over two decades. Once again Tsavliris have combined the commercial record with aspects of historical significance.
