On 17 August 2017, the Bulk Carrier "SINICA GRAECA" (GT 35,884 - DWT 63,270), laden with about 50,000 tonnes coal in bulk, on passage from Indonesia to India was involved in a collision in Singapore Straits. Tsavliris Salvage were contracted to salvage the casualty and the operation lasted for over two months.

Nicolas A. Tsavliris was elected Chairman of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation (Athens College), the largest and most prestigious school in Greece. Mr Tsavliris is a graduate (1966) of Athens College and was Vice-President/Treasurer of the school until recently.

The very successful 8th Hydra Shipping Conference took place on Saturday 9 September 2017, in Hydra's Cathedral Conference Hall and the theme was: "Money talks but wealth whispers".
Leading Greek shipowners, as well as senior shipping industry business executives, multinational and Greek company representatives, academics, consultants and members of Hydra's historic shipping families attended the conference.
The conference was organised by the Fraternity of the Athenian Hydriots and its President Mr John Sahinis. Mr George Tsavliris, Principal of Tsavliris Salvage Group, was the Chairman and Moderator of the 8th Annual Hydra Shipping Conference.
